If you purchased or leased a SunPower solar system from Esmay Electric, you’ve likely received notification that SunPower filed for bankruptcy on August 5th, 2024. Esmay Electric was exclusively a SunPower installing dealer from 2010 until their filing in 2024.

What does this mean for your equipment warranty and your production guarantee? The good news is that SunPower’s solar panels were manufactured by Maxeon Solar Technologies, who has agreed to work with SunPower’s installer network to honor the remainder of your SunPower warranty terms.

Esmay Electric is in the process or registering our existing SunPower customers into Maxeon’s warranty program.

If your system was installed after 2018, you more than likely have Enphase microinverters on your solar panels.  The warranty on these microinverters will be similarly honored by the equipment manufacturer, Enphase Energy.  Enphase Energy also has monitoring solutions available should your SunPower solar monitor fail.

If your system was installed prior to 2018, you likely have a string inverter or inverters on the wall of your home.  These were manufactured for SunPower by several suppliers over the years.  For warranty claims on these systems, Esmay Electric is assisting our customers by working with the manufacturers to determine the warranty status of your inverters.  If still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the manufacturer will send a suitable replacement.

If you leased your system from SunPower, the equipment manufacturer is not responsible for your warranty.  Your lease is transitioning from SunPower Financial to SunStrong Management.  In this case, all inquiries regarding your lease and your warranty should be directed to SunStrong Management customer service at (833) 514-1858 or you can email them at sunpower@youronlineaccount.com
